Free cake and cheap flights? That’s what we can get Sunday when Southwest Airlines begins service in Wichita.
You’re invited to attend a community celebration at Mid-Continent Airport on Sunday afternoon, June 2, 2013. There will be music, cake and refreshments, and also a prize drawing for two round-trip tickets to any Southwest Airlines destinations. (Woot!)
The event will be held from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. in the mezzanine level of the main terminal.
Southwest’s initial schedule includes two daily flights to Dallas Love Field, two daily flights to Chicago Midway, and one daily flight to Las Vegas. The Dallas and Chicago routes are served with the 143-seat, Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The Las Vegas route is served with the 137-seat, B737-300 aircraft. In 2012, Southwest’s average passenger airfare was $147.17 one way. Southwest fares can only be found at www.southwest.com. Southwest does not charge for the first two checked bags, nor does it charge change fees.
If you attend the celebration at the airport, park in either short-term or long-term parking, and be sure to pick up a parking pass before you leave the event.
