There’s a new wetlands park being developed within the city limits of Wichita. If you’re a west-sider, you may have noticed the construction going on in the field behind Home Goods and across the street from Sam’s Club.
The official ribbon-cutting of Pracht Wetlands Park will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 rescheduled for May 18 at 9:30 a.m.
The city broke ground on the construction of this urban wetlands park in April 2019.
It will have boardwalks so so that we’ll be able to walk into the wetland and observe the wildlife. So far, only Phase I of the project will have been completed.
I stopped by the park before it was finished to get an idea of what we can look forward to. It was really neat to see the wildlife that is so active there in the wetlands, along with some pretty lush plant life. And although you can hear the traffic noises from nearby 29th Street, the sounds of birds, insects, and the water is very clear. This park will definitely be worth a visit when you need to get a break and get out in nature.
Admission to the park will be free; as is the ribbon cutting event.
