Planes and Pancakes at Stearman Airfield

Stearman Airfield Bar & Grill is in Benton, KS, is hosting an event called Planes & Pancakes. Starting in March, this event will occur on the first Saturday of every month.

Stearman is only about a 25-minute drive from Wichita. It offers a fun and unique dining experience because it’s a restaurant next to an active runway.

The restaurant’s aviation-themed décor features model planes and classic aircraft photos, creating an immersive atmosphere. Menu highlights include creatively named dishes like Pilot’s Fried Pickles, Bi-Plane Cheeseburgers, and Bomber Chicken Nachos.

They also have a spacious patio and a free playground area for kids, making it the perfect spot for families to eat, play, and enjoy some aviation fun.

This event can be a bit tricky to understand at first — the $7 all-you-can-eat pancakes are only for those who fly into Stearman. Non-pilots don’t get a food discount, but the real perk is the experience. With more planes flying in and out, it creates a fun, unique atmosphere that guests get to enjoy at no extra cost!

  • Enjoy breakfast at Stearman Airfield and hopefully see some aircraft up close as they land on the airstrip, which is only 20 yards away.
  • If you are a piolet and fly in between 8 am and noon, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes for $7 or get 50% off breakfast! I imagine they are doing this to encourage pilots to fly in.
  • Not a pilot? No worries! You can enjoy their regular breakfast buffet.
