I can’t think of a better subscription idea than coffee.
What used to be the territory of newspapers and magazines is now a hot trend in other products. Everyone seems to have a subscription offer these days. You can subscribe to streaming t.v. with Hulu, music with Spotify, books with Kindle Unlimited, stuff for your dog, etc. And there are even meal subscriptions where a company will send you food to cook every night for dinner. (I can’t see the appeal, but maybe that’s because my husband provides the same service when he stops at the store for me on his way home from work.)
But a subscription to coffee? A thousand times yes, because that can be such a budget-buster for folks who don’t brew at home. I hope this works so well for Panera that it sparks a new trend.
Panera’s new coffee subscription program offers unlimited hot coffee, iced coffee, and hot tea – with unlimited refills of the same beverage while you’re in the café – for just $8.99 a month at participating locations. You can redeem your subscription once up to every two hours.
With this deal, if you stop at Panera every morning for a cup of coffee, you’ll only be spending about 30 cents a day for coffee.
BONUS: For a limited time, you’ll get the coffee subscription FREE for the first three months. Get details here.
I can see a downside to this. (There’s always a downside, isn’t there?) If you walk into Panera hungry, you’re going to leave with MORE than just a cup of coffee! That’s probably what they’re counting on. But if you know the risk and are willing to take it, and if you love Panera coffee enough to drink it every single day, then this is the deal for you.
Hey, at least it’s not Krispy Kreme.
You do need to be a member of the free Panera Rewards program to join the coffee program.
Here’s another important detail: cold brew iced coffee, espresso, cappuccino beverages and other beverages are excluded from the offer.
You’ll want to check out the details carefully before committing to the $9 plus tax monthly bill. You can do that here at the MyPanera+ Coffee FAQs page.

Thanks to Bryan of Living on the Cheap for his post, Panera Bread brews up monthly coffee subscription that first alerted us to this deal.
