Do you enjoy river paddling and have access to a canoe or kayak? You won’t want to miss the second annual Paddle Battle at Sand Creek on Saturday, April 9, 2016.
This canoe and kayak race will be held on Sand Creek in Newton, KS. Paddlers can choose between 1-mile and 2-mile courses. Registration is $25 per paddler.
Admission is free for spectators.
Participants who register by April 1 will receive a t-shirt. Online registration and race payment are available at www.tonewton.com/paddle-battle.html, or you can pick up entry forms at the Newton Convention & Visitors Bureau inside City Hall, at the Newton Area Chamber of Commerce, or at the Newton Recreation Commission.
Race day registration will also be available starting at 8:30 a.m. at the dock by the Fourth Street boat ramp in Newton.
Paddlers are encouraged to bring their own boats. A limited number of rentals will be available from CaNewton with advance registrations. To reserve a boat, call CaNewton at 316-288-5756.
All proceeds from the Paddle Battle at Sand Creek will benefit the Newton Rotary Club’s scholarship fund and Heart 2 Heart Child Advocacy Center.
