New Local Documentary – Wichita: The Air Capital

Wichita: The Air Capital

KPTS Channel 8 has written and produced a new documentary film that will be shown here in March.

Wichita: The Air Capital is a new, locally-produced documentary that takes viewers back to the beginning of aviation in our community when the dreams of dare-devil pilots and the dreams of community boosters worked together to make Wichita the place to build airplanes, and make dreams of flying come true for the world.

The film looks at the history of aviation, what’s happening now in our city, and explores what the future holds for Wichita.

The debut showing of Wichita: The Air Capital will be held at the Orpheum Theatre on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is $10 per person, and proceeds benefit both the theater and KPTS. You can purchase tickets for the film at selectaseat.com, by phone at 855-755-SEAT, or at the INTRUST Bank Arena box office.

If you can’t make the debut, you can catch the new documentary on Channel 8.

Wichita: The Air Capital will air on KPTS Channel 8 Thursday, March 12 and again Monday, March 16. It starts at 7 p.m. on both dates.

Both showings will air during the Springfest Pledge Drive. During the pledge drive, people who donate $84 or more will receive a copy of the documentary as a thank you gift.

KPTS also plans to provide copies of the DVD to schools and libraries across Kansas and to the Kansas Aviation Museum for educational purposes.
