New Linwood Fitness Center Grand Opening Saturday

Sharing is caring!

South-siders will have a new fitness center available to them in the Linwood Recreation Center at 1901 S. Kansas. The grand opening and open house is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015.

At the open house, you can tour the new center, try out the equipment and get information about memberships. The fitness center features state-of-the-art, Precor brand fitness equipment. Equipment includes treadmills, ellipticals, upright & recumbent bikes, adaptive motion trainers, resistance equipment and free weights.

The fitness center includes a security system, with a keypad, mag door locks and cameras for recreation center staff to monitor the area. The front entrance is only accessible to members who have purchased memberships to the fitness center.

Facility hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday; and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday; and 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

The new fitness center is the result of feedback from customers of the recreation center. The fitness center is located in what was an empty office in the southwest corner of recreation center.

“We envisioned and identified a number of different scenarios on how that space could be utilized,” Lisa Klaassen, the director of the recreation center, said. “We asked program users what they wanted in the space if there was an opportunity to renovate it. Time and time again, the answer was a fitness center.”
