National Car Seat Trade-In Events

Sharing is caring!

Are you wondering what to do with your old expired car seats? Don’t throw them away! This September, in celebration of National Baby Safety Month, there are two companies who want to reward you for trading in your old car seats: Target and Walmart.

Target Car Seat Trade-In Event

Target has been offering a car seat trade-in incentive for the past few years. The car seat trade-in event will return to all Target stores September 3-13, 2019.

Details:
You will get a coupon for 20% off a new car seat, stroller or other select baby gear when you bring your old car seat to the Guest Services counter. The coupon is valid through September 14, 2019.

Target will accept and recycle all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats and car seats that are expired or damaged. Materials from the old car seats will be recycled by Target’s partner, Waste Management.

If you have more questions about the Target car seat trade-in event, visit the Target website.

Walmart Car Seat Trade-In Event

This year, Walmart is hosting its first ever car seat trade-in event. From September 16–30, 2019 bring in any car seat that is expired or that your child has outgrown and receive a $30 Walmart gift card.

All car seats collected in this program will be recycled 100% by TerraCycle and each component will be diverted from the landfill.

Details:
Bring your car seat to the trade-in event at your participating Walmart Supercenter from September 16-30, 2019. (Due to an overwhelming response, Walmart ended its Car Seat event early, on September 21.) Take it to the Customer Service counter to be recycled and receive your $30 Walmart gift card. The gift card can used in-store or online to buy baby items.

Fine Print:
Any and all car seat brands will be accepted. However, booster seats are not eligible for trade-in. In addition, there is a limit of 2 trade-ins and therefore 2 gift cards per household.

Visit the Walmart website if you have more questions about the car seat trade-in event.

As you can see, there are pros and cons to each store’s trade-in event. Read the information carefully and decide which one best fits your needs!
