Postponed: Naftzger Park Grand Opening

We are really excited about the big plans Wichita has for the newly-renovated Naftzger Park, but unfortunately the grand opening event scheduled for Thursday has been postponed. Here’s the official press release:

“Due to ongoing concerns…the City has made the determination to postpone the Naftzger Park and Evergy Pavilion Grand Opening Celebration previously planned for at 5 p.m. tonight, March 12.

A new date will be announced in the near future.

The City’s top priority is the health and well-being of Wichita residents. A determination on whether to hold or postpone future events will be made and announced by the end of the week.”

The City also announced it on Facebook today:

“Due to ongoing concerns… the City has made the determination to postpone the Naftzger Park and Evergy Pavilion Grand Opening Celebration planned for tonight.“

~~Naftzger Park was closed last year for a big renovation and now it’s close to reopening!~~

~~In fact, the grand opening of the newly renovated Naftzger Park is scheduled for Thursday, March 12.~~

~~It will be a big to-do with the Mayor and other officials, Brett Harris as the MC, live music from the band Annie Up, food trucks, and more.~~

~~Evergy will be handing out swag while it lasts.~~

~~The Naftzger Park Grand Opening event will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. that Thursday evening.~~

~~Weather permitting, they’ll end the evening with fireworks!~~

~~I’ve seen that a lot of events are already being planned for the new Naftzger Park, so keep an eye out for those in the weeks ahead.~~
