Ad Astra Academy is a local code school in Wichita produced in conjunction with the BETA program at Butler Community College. Workshops on Front End Web Development begin this month.
The series includes five workshops on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Git. Each session is four hours long and all of them will be held in the Butler Technology Center at Exploration Place.
I’ve taken the series and it’s a steal, both in terms of time and money. If you want to learn the basics of coding websites but don’t have time for a full course, consider taking this series.
Workshops @ Exploration Place:
Code Workshop 1: HTML & CSS1 Sat, July 11, 2015
Code Workshop 2: HTML & CSS2 Sat, July 18, 2015
Code Workshop 3: JavaScript 1 Sat, July 25, 2015
Code Workshop 4: JavaScript 2 Sat, August 1, 2015
Code Workshop 5: Git Sat, August 8, 2015
Time: 1:00-5:00PM
Cost: $85 /course or $340 for all five workshops
Registration for the basic workshops will open soon. Visit AdAstraAcademy.com to learn more.
If you’re more of a do-it-yourself-er or don’t have the money for the registration fee, you can learn to code for free online. One good resource is codecademy.com However, I will tell you that it’s nice to have an actual instructor in the room with you so you can ask questions or get help if something goes wrong. That’s what I love about these coding workshops. They also give you a better overview of how to put all the code together to make a website.
