Lawn Care Rebate Program in Wichita

Sharing is caring!

For the third consecutive year, the City of Wichita is proud to offer funding aimed at facilitating the switch to eco-friendly lawn care equipment. Wichita will now pay residents up to $100 to buy electric lawn equipment.

Residents of Wichita and neighboring counties are eligible for rebates of up to $100 when they invest in new, non-combustion lawn equipment and responsibly recycle their old combustion-powered tools. Additionally, a $30 rebate is available for those purchasing mulch blades, with no recycling requirement.

Promoting clean air is crucial for maintaining good health. Traditional gas and diesel-powered lawn equipment releases emissions that adversely affect air quality. In fact, a typical gas lawnmower can produce six times more emissions than the average passenger vehicle. These pollutants contribute to ground-level ozone and pollution, posing particular risks to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions like asthma.

Lawn Care Rebate in Wichita

Through grant funding from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) via the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the City of Wichita is able to conduct education, outreach, and programming initiatives aimed at raising awareness about air quality and its impact on health. This program encourages individuals to make the switch to electric or battery-powered lawn equipment by offering a $100 rebate to eligible participants.

Originally launched as a pilot program in 2022 with a $50 rebate, this initiative has evolved to better serve the community’s needs.
