Did you make a resolution to get more exercise, go out more often, or learn to dance? Here are two deals for local square dancing classes that will help you do all three, and even save you a few bucks in the process.
The West Side Steppers are offering square dance classes that will take care of all three resolutions.
The classes will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings, February 4 through March 25, 2014 at Clare Hall, which is near Central and Tyler in west Wichita. Dancers walk an average of 3-5 miles per evening while having fun! No prior dance experience is needed. Casual attire is perfect. Complimentary snacks will be provided.
The cost is just $15 for 15 square dance classes (a value of $30). Register with cash or check one hour before the first class, 6-7 p.m. on February 4th. Have questions? The Circle 8 Square Dance Club will offer square dance classes for $5 off the listed price starting in January. The cost for 6 classes will be $30 with the $5 rebate given upon class completion.
Classes will be held from 9 am – 2pm (with a light lunch included) on Saturdays beginning January 25 through March 1 at the Newton Recreation Center Sunflower Room, 415 N. Poplar.
No dance experience or special clothing is needed. Couples, singles and families are encouraged to attend. Tammy Gough will be the instructor. Register at the Newton Rec Center online, by phone at 316-283-7330, or in person at the first class. The square dancers say that dancers exercise the equivalent of walking three to five miles per evening.
Please note that in addition to the $5 rebate we also serve lunch to those taking the class.
