Sharing is caring!
Here’s a patriotic way to spend your 4th of July: Give blood and help save someone’s life. The Red, White, and You Blood Drive will be held July 4-6, 2019 at the Sedgwick County Zoo. Presenting donors will receive FREE admission to the Sedgwick County Zoo.
Red, White & You is the largest community blood drive throughout Kansas. According to Red Cross, summer is a difficult time for blood collection, but with the community’s help they can make this drive a success.
“Presenting donors” – in other words, those who show up to donate blood – will each receive a FREE admission to the zoo and/or a free Red Cross t-shirt while supplies last.
This time of year, donations usually decrease because people are taking vacations and schools are out of session. This decline is even more noticeable around holidays like Independence Day. But patients can’t take a vacation from the need for blood. The need is constant.
All blood types are needed. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
Make an appointment at RedCrossBlood.org. Scroll through the list until you see the Sedgwick County Zoo drive and find a day/time that will work for you.
The process may take an hour, so if you plan to bring the kids you may want to have a family member come along to help keep them occupied while you give your life-saving donation.
