The Greater Wichita YMCA offers a program for older teens that can help them land a job, be an awesome employee, and manage the money they’ll begin making. The Strong Communities campaign funds the FREE program and will provide participants with training on how to complete a job application, dress for success, handle an interview, and manage money. Participants will also become CPR-AED and First Aid certified. The best part is it’s FREE!
Job Prep is a FREE course sponsored by the YMCA and takes place once a week for 2 hours from February – May for teens ages 14-17 (teens must be 15 by June 2024).
Students who pass the course will qualify for a summer job.

- Spirit AeroSystems
- Wichita Art Museum
- Exploration Place
- Cargill
- Mel Hambleton Ford
- OJ Watson Park
- Sojourners Coffee House
- Tanganyika Wildlife Park
Facts about the program:
- Students receive FREE CPR/FA certifications
- Students (14-17) get to apply at different jobs around the Wichita area at jobs that align with their career including careers in: medical, aviation, engineering, mechanics, entrepreneurship, business, social work, sports, teaching, vet techs, working with animals, working with children, art, marketing/graphic design, law, hair/make up, dentistry, and so many more!!
- Students learn professionalism, money management, resume building, interviewing skills, and customer service techniques during the spring semester and then work with Job Prep jobs during the summer.
- 100% of students (yes, even 15 year olds) received summer job offers after graduating from the program- YES! 100% OF THEM!
- Open to 14 year olds (must be 15 before May 1, 2024)

The program is held at school, after school at the following: North, South, East, West, Southeast, and Heights High Schools, or at the Downtown YMCA or the WSU YMCA.
