Yum! It is soup weather, and there’s nothing better than a hot bowl of fresh vegetable soup to warm you up on a cold day. The Health and Wellness Coalition of Wichita is having a unique event here in Wichita to celebrate Food Day 2013.
Wichita and surrounding communities are invited to lunch in celebration of the 2013 Food Day. The Health and Wellness Coalition is hosting an Ultimate Vegetable Soup SHOWDOWN at City Arts in Old Town on October 24, at 11:30 a.m. Local community gardeners and farmers will bring their best vegetable soup for the communities’ enjoyment. Taste real, fresh, homemade vegetable soup during the lunch hour. Additional sandwiches and drinks will be available. This is a free event but donations will be accepted.
The Health & Wellness Coalition of Wichita’s members encourage citizens in Wichita and surrounding communities to participate by organizing their own Soup SHOWDOWN or attending the Ultimate SHOWDOWN at City Arts and by eating real wholesome food. Eating Real means eating more—and delicious—food that comes from gardens and farms and less food that is highly processed in factories.
And less-processed food is less expensive. Soup is particularly good for using up your leftover veggies and small amounts of meat, and it’s one of my favorite things to cook during the fall and winter months.
