One of my favorite things about doing Wichita on the Cheap is finding the fun, offbeat, and the cool things you can do that cost nothing or nearly nothing. FREE ukulele lessons in Wichita – that’s an example of cool, fun, and offbeat all rolled into one.
According to its website, every Saturday in April the Guitar Center in west Wichita will offer a free ukulele lesson to all comers. You can bring your own uke or borrow one of theirs. The lessons begin at 10:15 a.m., and are the same each week, so you pick a Saturday to attend without missing anything, or you can go back every Saturday to really solidify what you’ve learned.
It’s part of the Music Mentor series – a whole series of free classes, including Recording Made Easy, Dialing in Your Amp, Drum Tuning, and Upgrading Your Acoustic.

Here’s a kid who obviously doesn’t need a lesson. I sing the lyrics like that too.
