I can’t believe that this is free, but I checked and yes, it surely is.
Tops in Blue is a performance group consisting of active-duty Air Force personnel whose primary mission is to travel the world entertaining military personnel and their families. It’s an elite group; service men and women compete in a series of elimination contests (American Idol style?) for a spot in the unit.
As part of its World Tour ’09, the group will be performing at the Wichita Orpheum on Thursday, January 28, 2010. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 7 p.m.
The Wichita Orpheum is a local treasure. While it is still in the process of being restored, it looks absolutely beautiful in the photos I’ve seen. (I’ve never been there, but I plan to remedy that Thursday night.)
Did you know that the Kansas premiere of the movie Gone with the Wind was at the Wichita Orpheum in 1940? The Orpheum will be celebrating the movie’s 75th anniversary on February 5th, so watch for a post on that too, or visit the Orpheum’s event schedule to get the details.
