Sharing is caring!
Whether you’re ready to plow up an acre, do a little container gardening, or just daydream about the beautiful garden you’ll have some day (I’m currently in the last camp), I think you’ll enjoy the Saturday Samplers in the Demo Garden at the Sedgwick County Extension.
On one Saturday each month from April to September, helpful Extension agents will present growing and cooking tips for various herbs and vegetables. You’ll learn cooking and nutrition tips, timely gardening tips, and get a tour of the demonstration garden.
All Saturday Samplers are free and no registration is required.
Here is a tentative schedule, but topics are subject to change depending on what’s happening in the Demonstration Garden. (This is real life in the garden!) Visit http://thedemogarden.org or http://denisesdelightfuldishes.com for updated information on the topic each month.
- April 6 – Grow Your Own Salad
- May 4 – Herb Day!
- June 8 – Garlic & Shallots
- July 13 – Beyond Basic Basil
- August 17 – Eggplant
- September 21 – Fall Root Vegetables
The Kansas Grown! Farmer’s Market will be going on in the parking lot, so plan enough time to find a parking spot (and you might want to plan time for shopping the locally-grown produce, plants, and other goods).
