KMUW 89.1, Wichita State University’s public radio station, is hosting a free concert series this fall along with the Old Town Association.
The concert series kicks off the evening of October 7, 2017 in Old Town Square at 2nd and Mead. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs. The performances will begin each Saturday evening at 7 p.m. on October 7, 14, and 21, 2017.
Here’s the line-up:
October 7 – Rudy Love and the Love Family You really do not want to miss this. Older brother Rudy heads up this group with siblings Peggy, Dennise, Shirley, Bob, and Gerald Love. Rudy was once a demo vocalist for Motown and collaborator with Sly Stone, and the family has been a staple of the Wichita music community for years.
Infinite Layers will open for the Love Family.
October 14 – Making Movies is a Kansas City-based band that makes music that’s easy to dance to. With roots in Missouri, Panama, and Mexico, the group bridges a variety of musical styles.
SCHEDULE CHANGE due to expected inclement weather Sunday, October 22 – Spirit of the Stairs This Wichita group formed in 2003 with the mission of exploring electric guitar based instrumental rock. It now has a loyal following for its must-see live shows.
Opening acts for this performance are The Cavves and Ryan Windham.
Since these are outdoor concerts, be sure to follow KMUW on Facebook or Twitter to find out if they have to make any weather-related changes or cancellations, or keep an eye on the KMUW website.
