This year, Sedgwick County is celebrating the 75th anniversary of one of its most popular lakes. From Friday, June 2, to Sunday, June 4, 2017, get FREE admission to Lake Afton! This is a free park pass weekend at Lake Afton for everyone!
Thanks so much to Jessica for alerting me to this deal!
In addition to the free entrance this weekend, Lake Afton Park will celebrate its anniversary all year long with 75-cent popcorn, 12 oz. slushes, and fountain drinks!
Okay, and here’s the other thing that’s great about this free weekend at Lake Afton: This weekend also happens to be FREE FISHING WEEKEND in Kansas! I know, right? This is the cheapest summer weekend ever.
Of course, this free park pass weekend doesn’t include camping fees, which are from $8 to $12 per day. (That’s still a steal!) It’s just for day passes.
Since it is one of the closest large lakes to Wichita, Lake Afton is a popular place for boating, camping, fishing, water skiing, and swimming all summer long. The park covers 720 acres and offers both RV and tent camping sites. Park shelters can also be rented online.
The Lake Afton Park Store is in the park office near 39th Street South (MacArthur Road) and West Shore Drive. It is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday during camping season (April through October).
At the park store you can buy live and packaged bait, snack foods, fishing tackle and various other swimming, camping, and boating supplies, as well as a limited selection of grocery items.
Be sure not to miss this free entrance weekend at Lake Afton.
