Sharing is caring!
Here’s something fun, free, and educational for the younger set. Art Start is an hour-long interactive program for preschoolers ages 3–5 from the Wichita Art Museum. Each month, a new theme is presented that relates to the making and meaning of works of art in the museum’s collection. Preschoolers participate in visual arts activities emphasizing the State of Kansas early-learning skills standards and centered on that month’s theme.
We love this program! Typically during each class, an art topic is discussed (shapes, color, etc.). Then the children are shown a work of art in the museum that they discuss. Next, they listen to a story and an interactive song. The 1 hour session is completed with a craft that relates to that month’s theme.
