The Wichita Carnegie Library has been celebrating its 100th anniversary all through September with free lunchtime concerts in Heritage Square in downtown Wichita. The celebration culminates this weekend with a FREE concert Friday after work and an open house all day Saturday.
On Friday, October 2, 2015, stop by the front steps of the Carnegie Library at 220 S. Main between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. for a free concert from Moreland and Arbuckle. You can bring lawn chairs or blankets, but please don’t bring any outside drink.
Then, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., come back for an open house to learn about the history of the Wichita Carnegie Library and its restoration. This is a family-friendly event, and includes building tours and other events throughout the day.
Fidelity Bank now occupies the 100-year old building and is the host of the special centennial events. Here’s the schedule according to their website:
9 am – Doors open
10 am – The Renovation – Lecture Hall
11 am – Reading & children’s book giveaway – Heritage Square
12 pm – Dedication ceremony/garden party – Heritage Square
1 pm – Reading & children’s book giveaway – Heritage Square
2 pm – Andrew Carnegie, The Man – Carnegie Library Building
