Several Wichita businesses have come up with creative and delicious ways to celebrate Mardi Gras/ Fat Tuesday this year, which is on Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

Industry Old Town is celebrating the last weekend of Mardi Gras before Fat Tuesday! They will have party favors and drink specials all weekend. Doors open at 5 p.m. Industry is located at 126 N Mosley.

Two Olives is hosting a festive brunch on Sunday, February 23 and again on Fat Tuesday, February 25, they will also have a specialty Happy Hour menu, featuring some of their favorite French-creole inspired cuisine, along with festive cocktails, including a variety of Hurricane drinks. The Donut Whole will be serving King Cake Donuts in traditional Mardi Gras colors. There will be lucky babies inserted into random donuts and if you order a dozen donuts in advance, they guarantee one lucky baby in every dozen. Blue Moon Caterers is having their annual Red Bean’s Bayou Grill Memorial Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Party on Tuesday, February 25, from 4 to 9 p.m. This is the one time of year you can enjoy some of your favorite dishes from the former Red Bean’s Bayou restaurant. They will have a buffet featuring: Firecracker Pasta, Pork Loin Thibideaux, Fried Pickles, Jambalya and more. Adults are $28 each. Kids 4 to 12 are $12 and children under 4 are FREE. Mudbugs Cajun & Zydeco Band will be playing at the Blue Moon Caterers Red Bean’s Bayou Grill Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Party this year! They will be playing in a heated tent with a bar and tables to eat on in the parking lot. There will be a heated tunnel to the restaurant.
Doo Dah Diner is celebrating their 7th Annual Fat Tuesday Cajun Fundraiser Feast. This is an all you can eat Cajun dinner from 5 to 8 p.m on Tuesday, February 25. The meal will feature crawfish flown straight from New Orleans as well as other delicious Cajun dishes. Call the diner from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at (316) 558-3636 to make your reservations. Dinner is $30 for adults and kids under 12 are $15. This year’s party will take place at Doo Dah Diner Downtown which is located at 206 E Kellogg.

Chicken N Pickle will celebrate Fat Tuesday with a Shrimp Boil from 6-9 p.m. Their game room will be transformed into New Orleans with food, music and fun. The shrimp boil will include shrimp, corn and potatoes. They will also have cocktails and Hurricane drinks for sale. Music will be provided by the Friends University Jazz Combo. Tickets are $35 a person through Eventbrite. This event sold out last year, so get your tickets while you can! Chicken N Pickle is located at 1240 N. Greenwich Road.
St. James Episcopal Church in Wichita KS will host its annual Shrove Tuesday Oyster Dinner. The cost is $45 for all-you-can-eat or drink. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. at 3750 E. Douglas. Thanks to reader Henry N. for telling us about this event! He says the church has been hosting this event for around 80 years, and that the dinner will have an assortment of dishes, including fresh oyster on the half-shell, oyster chowder, fried oysters, beer + pie. Sounds yum! All proceeds go to support Episcopal Social Services and the Wichita Children’s Home. Call 316-683-5686 for tickets!
River City Brewing Company is hosting their 2nd annual all-you-can-eat Beer and Crawfish Boil.
The crawfish boil includes fresh crawfish that will be brought in live from the Louisiana Crawfish Company cooked with andouille sausage, smoked sausage, potatoes, corn, onions and mushrooms in a pot full of traditional Louisiana seasoning. They will also serve red beans and rice. River City has also brewed up a Hurricane inspired IPA beer called the Keeper of the Haze that’s sure to delight your taste buds. The cost is $40 per person and the party is from 3-9 p.m. or until the food is gone. (Last year they ran out in 3 hours, so get there early!) Little Busters Sports Bar in Derby knows what Mardi Gras is all about: Music, Muffaletta Sandwiches, Beignets, Hurricanes and Excitement. February 25th from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., join in the Fat Tuesday fun. Wear costumes or dress in purple, green, and gold, and adorn yourselves with beads. Then join Little Busters for Mardi Gras ALL MONTH LONG! They will have Hurricanes on Tap for $3 or bring friends and get a Pitcher for $10, $9.99 Muffaletta Sandwich Baskets, $6.99 Beignet Baskets, and great handouts and prizes all Month! If you want to celebrate Mardi Gras/ Fat Tuesday at home, several bakeries and donut shops around Wichita are selling a variety of Mardi Gras themed foods. Some of them require that you call in advance to place your order.
Dillons bakery has traditional 24 oz. Mardi Gras King Cakes available. Each cake serves approximately 8 people. These are made to order so you will need to call in advance. Call a Dillons bakery near you to place your order.
