Live the Good Life for Less & Never Miss a Deal

Downtown Wichita: Holiday Window Wonderland Free Displays

One of my favorite simple (and free!) ways to enjoy the holidays in Wichita is to wander downtown and check out all the festive window displays. Downtown Wichita’s Holiday Window Decorating Contest is back this year, running from November 28 through January 1, and the public gets to vote for the most creative and cheerful design. Stop by to check out the windows as you are driving by all the House Light Displays around town.

If you’re out with your kids, grab a Dinner Deal, or just taking an evening stroll to soak in the lights, you can cast a vote for your favorite window. Winners will be announced January 7, with the top displays earning cash prizes of $500, $250, and $100. It’s a fun way to support local businesses and enjoy a little holiday magic without spending a dime.

Downtown businesses from the Arkansas River east to Washington, and from Kellogg north to Central, can sign up to participate. Whether they paint it, build it, or light it up, downtown shops always find creative ways to show off their holiday spirit.

As a Wichita mom, I love bundling up, grabbing a hot chocolate, and walking through downtown to pick my favorites. It’s a simple tradition that feels special every year, and it’s a great reminder of how our community comes alive during the holidays.
