Does your pooch need a playdate? Do the kids need some fun and free time? City of Wichita Park & Recreation is hosting a Dog and Family Day at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on October 6.
Thanks to reader Tori for letting me know about this event!
They’ll have food trucks, a pop-up dog park, and a family-friendly movie double feature! This should be fun.
“This is the first of two events we’ve planned to allow the community a chance to honor Lawrence-Dumont Stadium and enjoy it one last time,” said Mayor Jeff Longwell. “While we’re excited about the future of baseball in our community, we want to ensure that we celebrate the vibrant part Lawrence-Dumont played in our community.”
Food and Food Trucks
The food trucks scheduled to be onsite during Dog and Family Day include:
- U-Hungry Truck
- Kona Ice
- Doggy Style Express (hot dog stand)
However, you can bring outside food and drinks if you prefer – just no alcohol. Coolers and backpacks will be checked at the entrance.
Popcorn will be sold for $1 a bag.
Pop-Up Dog Park
From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., dogs can run, jump and play with their families on the field. Do bring your own doggy waste bags to pick up any “doo” your dog does. 🙂
Bring toys and dog treats for Fido! During the pop-up dog park time, pups won’t have to be on a leash. Water bowls will be onsite for furry friends.
Family Movie Double Feature
After play time, dogs and families can settle in for two free movies on the field.
