If you are a college student and you have a valid .edu email address, you may qualify for a FREE six-month membership to Amazon Student. Amazon Student is like Amazon Prime, only cheaper. You’ll get free 2-day shipping on most things you order from Amazon and “exclusive discounts and promotions.” (I don’t know what they are. The free shipping is pretty good by itself.)
But before you pull the trigger, make sure you read the fine print. After the six-month free membership is over, you’ll be automatically signed up for a half-price subscription to Amazon Prime. Now, you may actually want this because at $49 per year it’s a very good deal. (I paid twice that for my subscription.)
Amazon Prime usually costs $99 per year, and include free 2-day shipping, free unlimited streaming of 41,000 movies and TV shows, unlimited ad-free access to over a million songs, and free “borrowing” of 500,000 Kindle books.
But be sure to read up on all the terms and conditions so you know what, exactly, you are getting. You want to be very intentional about your spending right now because it all adds up. If you decide Amazon Student/Amazon Prime is worth the money, you can get the discounted membership for up to four years. At the end of your Amazon Student term, you’ll be automatically renewed for the regular Prime membership unless you tell it not to auto-renew.
