Ballet of Wichita Presents Thumbelina: Free Ballet in the Park

Ballet in the Park is one of my favorite FREE events in Wichita. Family-friendly performances are held in parks in Wichita and surrounding communities and feature a new production each year.

It’s a relaxed and casual atmosphere where those in attendance can meet and mingle with the dancers after the show.  Bring your blankets and chairs as you enjoy an outdoor ballet performance this September!

Thumbelina Ballet in the Park

Follow the misadventures of a young girl destined to find true love and gain her wings.  Born of magic, tragically lost, and determined to find her own way in the world; audiences will delight in the comedic telling of this story based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson.

This production is for everyone who still celebrates all that is good and glorious about adventures and childhood.

Choreographed by Ballet Wichita’s  Artistic Director and internationally known director/choreographer, David Justin (Birmingham Royal Ballet (UK), San Francisco Ballet and Boston Ballet), the new work is designed to appeal to audiences young and old, just as the original story has done for over a century.
