The Eagle Valley Raptor Society rescued a bald eagle it named Spirit in December. After receiving veterinary treatment and rehabilitation, Spirit will be released back into the wild at a ceremony Saturday at the Mid-America All-Indian Center.
The ceremony will also honor Sgt. Eric Nettleton and Spcl. Thomas Moffitt, two Wichita soldiers who lost their lives in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. The soldiers’ families and members of the Patriot Guard will be at the gathering.
Before the ceremony, visitors can watch the film “American Eagle” at 11 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. At 2 p.m., an elder from the Lakota tribe will bless the eagle and the families of the soldiers.
