UPDATE: The launch has been delayed, so the launch party won’t happen today. Hopefully it will be rescheduled, and I’ll try to let you know.
The Cosmosphere will be showing the last launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavour on Friday, April 29, beginning at 2 p.m. It will be shown live on a large screen in the Discovery Room at the Cosmosphere. This event is free to the public.
This is Endeavor’s 25th and final mission. It was completed in 1990 and since its first launch in 1992, it has traveled 116,372,930 miles and carried 166 crew members through 4,423 orbits. The crew for the final 14-day mission of Endeavor will be led by Commander Mark Kelly, the husband of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
Weather or other factors could affect the launch date and time, but according to reports from NASA, everything is a go for April 29 at 2:47 (CST).
Last month, the Cosmosphere showed the final launch of Space Shuttle Discovery. On June 28, 2011, it plans to show Space Shuttle Atlantis’ last mission.
