Farm to Fork Tour

Sharing is caring!

The 5th annual Farm to Fork tour in Butler County is scheduled for July 9, with some very exciting changes for families who want to participate.

In previous years, the Farm to Fork tour consisted of hopping on a tour bus to see local farms in action, and enjoying a delicious chef-prepared lunch full of locally-produced foods. Obviously, that is not possible with the current situation, so the 2020 tour is going to be a bit different – and I’m excited about the changes!

Farm to Fork – Family Edition

What hasn’t changed: During the Farm to Fork tour, Butler County farms, ranches and agribusinesses will be hosting visitors throughout the day. It gives everyone the opportunity to learn more about agriculture in our region, see where our food comes from, and meet the people who work hard to provide it.

The event is a fundraiser for Butler County Farm Bureau Association’s Ag in the Classroom program and Scholarships for High School Seniors.

What has changed is that this year, you and your family will be able to drive from farm to farm in your own vehicle. This is even more family-friendly than what has been available in previous years! It will make a great “stay-cation” educational activity for parents and kids.

There’s even a totally “touch-less” version of the tour available for those who want that option.

The “Bounty of Butler” boxed lunches will still be available if you choose to purchase one. The meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at one of your tour stops.

If you would rather take the tour without the lunch, you can do that. They’ll have a Tour Map and an Ag Education Packet for $8, which includes videos, fact sheets, recipes, and kids coloring and activity pages.
