Live the Good Life for Less & Never Miss a Deal

Dillons will accept SNAP benefits for grocery pickup

Customers who buy groceries with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits will soon be able to use Dillons’ curbside pickup service.

The low-contact pickup service allows customers to shop online via website or mobile app and then pick up the grocery order when it’s ready. Previously, a SNAP/EBT payment method wasn’t supported, but that option should be ready at all Kansas Dillons stores by April 24.

“Kroger is rolling out a payment capability across our nearly 2,800 grocery stores to allow more customers to access fresh, affordable food and essentials through our Pickup service,” said Rodney McMullen, Kroger’s chairman and CEO. “We are committed to supporting all families as we work together with our associates and communities and government agencies and health organizations to flatten the curve during this unprecedented pandemic.”

“Even more customers will have access to the convenience of Dillons Pickup and the social distancing offered by curbside service, thanks to the new SNAP/EBT payment option,” said Steve Dreher, president of Dillon Stores. “Our stores across Kansas will accept this type of payment beginning on April 24.”

Dillons pickup service has become even more popular in this time of social distancing. Dillons’ parent company Kroger says it has taken steps to support the higher volume of orders, such as hiring new employees and adding more pickup time slots.

It has even dropped its $4.95 grocery pickup fee to encourage more customers to use the low-contact service during the pandemic.

Another service that should help customers shop more safely and quickly is the Scan, Bag, Go app. The improved mobile app is being rolled out nationwide. With the app, you can scan and bag your items as you shop and then pay for your purchases with your phone, skipping the traditional checkout process entirely.

How to Use Dillons Pickup

1. Choose your preferred store location on Dillons.com or the Dillons app

2. Shop and place your order for groceries on Dillons.com or the Dillons app

3. Select a pickup date and time and SNAP/EBT as the payment method. If you’re using an EBT card, you’ll present your payment method at the time of pick up

4. A Dillons employee shops for your order

5. When it’s time to pick up your order, look for the pickup signs in the store’s parking lot and pull into your parking spot then call the number on the sign to let an associate know you’ve arrived

6. An associate will bring your order out and load it into your car. At this time, EBT card customers can complete their transaction via a mobile point-of-sale system and pay for ineligible EBT purchases or any remaining balance with their debit or credit card
