Free Wichita Area Technology Fair for Teens at Northwest High School

Sharing is caring!

If you like creating things with technology, now is your chance to show off your work and connect with other like-minded students at Northwest High School’s Technology Fair for teens.

All Wichita area middle school and high school students-including homeschoolers-who love making things using technology are invited to this technology fair. The event is free. However, sign up is required!

Do you have a knack for creating awesome videos? Did you create a new gadget with a Raspberry Pi? Are you the next Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, or Katherine Johnson? Now is your chance to show off your hard work and get recognized for the awesome things YOU DO with technology!

There are no hard and fast rules. Come show us what you’ve got and get exposure with industry experts and local schools (Who knows, perhaps there will be scholarship money, jobs, or oohs and aaahs). There is no pressure though just come show off! Wichita wants to see what YOU have to offer. Each entry will be judged and PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED (including Raspberry Pi(s)*!) provided by our sponsor BOOZ-ALLEN-HAMILTON. (The IT Company selected by NHS to lead our nation’s Cybersecurity efforts!)

  • What problem did you solve?
  • How is it made?
  • How does it work?

The categories for this event include:

  • 3D Modeling
  • Animation
  • Audio Production
  • Device Modification and Project Programming
  • Digital Game Design
  • Graphic Design/Digital Photo Production
  • Programming Challenge
  • Robotics
  • Tech Literacy Challenge
  • Video Production

The event will take place Saturday, April 21 at Wichita Northwest High School, which is located at 1220 N. Tyler Rd. Setup will open at 8 a.m. and judging begins at 9 a.m.

Sign up is required for this event. If you sign up by April 6th, you are guaranteed a t-shirt. They will, however, take sign up entries up to the day of the event. Visit the NWHS Tech Fair event website to sign up.

*A Raspberry Pi is a micro computer that can do about anything you would do with a normal laptop. What makes it different are 40 little pins that are used to hook up sensors, control motors, etc. It is a great tool to teach computer programming and basics of computing at an affordable price. It comes pre-loaded with Minecraft and other useful software.
