Hear your favorite holiday standards with a bluegrass kick at A Prairie Bluegrass Christmas on December 6, 2018. This sounds like so much fun!
A mix of old favorite traditional tunes and newer original songs played in the bluegrass style by Rob Loren on fiddle, mandolin, and dulcimer, Dennis Hardin on guitar and mandolin, Phil Burress on bass and Karen and Richard Crowson on guitar and banjo.
The concert is part of Music Sessions at Chapel Hill, which is a free concert series of live, acoustic performances by local musicians.
A Prairie Bluegrass Christmas will be performed inside the sanctuary at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Admission is free with a goodwill offering; no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Richard and Karen Crowson have been performing folk and bluegrass music in the Wichita area for many years. Their annual Christmas show at Chapel Hill with other veteran musicians lifts up the joy of the season with toe-tapping American bluegrass music. The ensemble has toured Kansas many times, recorded numerous CD projects and appeared on programs including The History Channel, The Nashville Network and The Fox Network as part of the Grammy-nominated “Music of the Wild West” project. Richard Crowson also plays regularly with Burress and Hardin in another configuration, the “unapologetic accordion tinged jamgrass band,” Pop & the Boys.
