Wichita on the Cheap

Newton Car Show

This May, there will be the Newton Car Show in Newton, Kansas, just north of Wichita. They usually have between 350-450 cars that line our historic Main Street.

The car show is FREE to attend.  This is the 19th year of the car show and it’s grown each year. They are a charity car show and they choose 3 charities each year to give the money to. Last year they gave each charity $5,500.   That’s $16,500 they were able to give away.

Just come for a fun time. They will have a few food trucks, and all of our local businesses/eating establishments are ramped up for the weekend. Come look at the cool cars, eat and shop in the historic downtown.

They are also haveing a CRUISE night the Friday night before the car show.  Folks line Main Street as the cars cruise from Newton High School down to the South part of town.  The folks typically cruise 2-3 hours from the North Sonic to the South Sonic.  It’s a great time.

Not free- but Midway Motors is doing a fundraiser cookout Friday night at their car lot and the Newton Lion’s Club is doing a can drive that night as well.  The whole weekend is about fundraising

  1. I located the “Newton Car Show” on the Wichita on the Cheap ‘. My wife and i attended Satureay. As I believed it said “First Annual” and two blocks long, my expectations weren’t too high. However, it turned out that the array of cars was four blocks long, both sides of the street, and some exhibits on side streets. The automobiles were of excellent quality and well worth showing. That show really ranked quite high with me. I eagerly look forward to next year’s show. I’m quite glad the show was included in the Wichita on the Cheap announcement.
