The Sam’s Club Black Friday ad is out!
Deals start Thursday online. If you are a Plus member, you can get free shipping with no minimum purchase (some exclusions apply). You’re going to want to be the first one online to get that Shark vacuum cleaner.
Then, Sam’s Club stores will open their doors at 7 a.m. on Black Friday morning.

Leading up to and after Black Friday leading up to the holidays, Sam’s will have a number of events – including everyone’s favorite: sampling events!
Here’s the general schedule that’s posted on their website. Your nearest Sam’s Club events may vary slightly, but this is the plan:
Taste of Sam’s Club: November 16-21 and December 21-23, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Black Friday: Shop online Thanksgiving day beginning at noon; shop in-store Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. (Sam’s Black Friday is a best-kept secret! One year I went and the store only had a few shoppers, so we had ALL THE BARGAINS to ourselves!)
Cyber Week: Hundreds of items on sale online from November 25-30.
Dazzling December one-day-only savings: December 15 online at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time and 7 a.m. in-store.

I went to the Sam’s Club on North Rock Road this afternoon after seeing your original post. It was explained to me the actual deal with the Plus membership and the gift cards. However, apparently this weekend only, one can also get the regular Advantage membership, free, with no additional gift card perk. They just don’t advertise it in the ad. I called to doublecheck, and, well, didn’t have to spend $40 like I thought I’d have to. FWIW.

I called them to ask and they told me they only have the Plus membership deal. Maybe they did that special for you. Things like that do happen sometimes!
Can we just a membership for thanks giving deals and then cancel the membership for full refund?

It says UP TO a $40 gift card. In the past that has been for the Plus Membership and they give a $10 card for a regular membership. So, definitely not free.
Agh. You’re right! It says UP TO. 🙁 I am so disappointed, because I was definitely going to get the membership because we let ours lapse this year. (A $10 card is fine, it just isn’t nearly as good as $40, and I don’t need the PLUS membership.)
Page 3 of their online Black Friday ad states this is for Plus Membership, doesn’t say anything about regular membership. What’s the source for your “Membership/Upgrade Incentive” quote? I really hope this extends to regular membership too.
The source of the quote is a press release, but Angie is right. It says UP TO a $40 gift card, and you’re right that the ad says the $40 is for the PLUS membership (which is $100). I’m sorry for the mistake — and I’m extremely disappointed because I was going to take advantage of the deal. (I still might, if there is a $10 gift card in it.) 🙁
Isn’t this gift card only available if you sign up for a PLUS membership? That membership is about $100. Or are they giving these gift cards out on the basic memberships, too?
It says that people who join (i.e. new membership) receive a $40 gift card. Current members who upgrade to Plus receive a $25 gift card.
