Winter Reading Program for Grown-Ups (with Prizes!)

Sharing is caring!

Wichita Public Library Read the Rainbow Adult Reading ChallengeThis is fun: The Wichita Public Library has a reading program for adults, complete with prizes.

The challenge begins today, Monday, January 9, 2012. The “Read the Rainbow” program encourages adults to read books across genres.

Here are the “colors” included in the challenge:

Red Hearts (Romance)
Apples to Oranges (All Other Fiction)
Yellow Rose of Texas (Western)
Green Martians (Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror)
The Boys in Blue (Mystery)
Mood Indigo (Classics and Family Favorites)
Corporal Violet (Nonfiction)

Just read one book in six of the seven genres listed above to complete the challenge. All who finish receive a prize, and are eligible for entry into the prize drawing for some other pretty great prizes:

Grand Prize – The Castle Inn Riverside stay for two

2nd Prize (Three Winners) – $50 Visa gift cards

Other prizes –
Friends of the Wichita Public Library Gold Card memberships
Friends of the Wichita Public Library book bags
Gift certificates to local merchants

You’ll want to visit the Wichita Public Library website to read the complete rules for the Reading the Rainbows program.

(psst – Don’t tell the library, but I don’t even need encouragement to read! These prizes are great, though, so I’m definitely signing up for the program.)
