Sharing is caring!
The GPNC always has awesome events for nature enthusiasts (and anyone!) so I was really excited when I saw they were starting a FREE photo club.
The photo club is open to anyone with any type of camera – cell phone, point-and-shoot, DSLR, etc. Meetings are held monthly on a Saturday morning and they start at 9 a.m. (See the upcoming Photo Club dates below.)
Usually Photo Club meetings begin in the auditorium with a critique session of photos that have been submitted previously. These sessions are educational, positive, and helpful. After the time in the auditorium, participants usually head off as a group onto the nature center grounds to see what we can find to photograph. (There’s always something! The photo walk is led by a Great Plains Nature Center naturalist who points out things you wouldn’t normally know to pay attention to.)
Photo club meetings generally go from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Again, this photo club is free and open to anyone with an interest in photography, regardless of skill level. It’s refreshing to get out in nature and spend time paying attention to the details we might ordinarily overlook. It’s a great way to spend a Saturday morning!
Occasionally the Great Plains Nature Center Photo Club may go on field trips to explore and photograph other picturesque places in Kansas. Be sure to join the Facebook group here to be apprised of upcoming trips.
