Amazon Prime Days October 2022

Sharing is caring!

Amazon Prime Day is back for 2022, and this time it’s in October. The official Fall Prime Days are October 11 & 12, but early deals start now.

If you don’t know what Prime Day is, it’s kind of like a Black Friday in October.

Prime Day deals are available to Amazon Prime members only. If you don’t have a Prime account and want to get in on these deep discounts, sign up for a free 30-day trial here.) You’ll have plenty of time to get the deals before your trial membership is up.

If you’re on SNAP or EBT, you can get a discounted Prime Day membership here. If you’re a student, you get a free six-month trial instead of the regular 30-day one.

If you’re already a Prime member, you can access early Prime Day deals now!

So what are the deals on Prime Day?

Although we don’t know all of the specific deals will be until Amazon Prime Day actually happens, we do know a few specific brands Amazon mentioned in its press release, including Levi’s, iRobot, Samsung, and Redken. We also know that they almost always have the deepest discounts on Amazon devices like the Echo and Alexa, FireTV and Fire Tablets, and Kindle E-readers.

But during Prime Days, you’ll probably find deals across almost all categories – TVs, smart home, kitchen, grocery, toys, fashion, furniture, appliances, gifts – and even be able to stock up on everyday items. Prime members also get exclusive savings at Whole Foods Market.

The press release also mentions never-before-seen deals on Prime Video, Amazon Music, and Prime Gaming, so be sure to stay online if you use any of those. (We make use of Prime Video quite often in our family, so I’m interested in seeing what they’ll do as far as deals for that.)

Due to the nature of these deals, many will have limited quantities and could sell out fast, so Prime members should come back frequently to view new deals launching throughout the 48-hour event.

Tips to get the best deals on Prime Day

Prime Day kicks off at midnight (PDT) on October 11 (which is 2 a.m. Central Time) and runs for 48 hours. New Prime Day deals will be posted as often as every five minutes. While some of the deals may sell out quickly, you can find good bargains. Here are a few insider tips to help you get all the best deals during the Prime Day sales.

My personal opinion is that you’ll get the best value from these Black Friday-like sales if you already have a list of things you need or want and search for deals on those. (This helps you avoid impulse buys!)

Know your prices and specs.

I probably sound like a broken record since I say this all the time but for any big sale days where you’ll have to make quick decisions, you should know in advance exactly what specific features you want in the products you intend to buy. You also want to know what the regular price of the items are so that you know you’re getting a good deal when you see it on sale.

Get deal alerts.

Once the deals begin, Amazon Prime Day homepage usually has categories of Lightning Deals you can click on to help you narrow your browsing to a specific category, like Electronics or Photography.

You can also click Watch This Deal on any products Amazon gives you a preview of.

Another way to do it is to make a Shopping List. That’s great if you’ve already narrowed your search to a specific product you want with all the features you want, because you can click right through if you see the item is on sale. However, remember it may be that another model of that item is the one on sale, so decide ahead of time which product features are really important to you so that in the end you’ll be happy with your purchase!

If you have the Amazon app, just start searching for products. The app will suggest items you can get notifications about so you’ll know when they go on sale.

Alternatively, you can sign up for third-party apps like Camel Camel Camel or Honey to get notified of price drops, but realize that they might not be able to keep up with lightning deals. (I don’t know for sure, since I didn’t have either of them last year on Prime Day.)

Use Coupons

Amazon does have coupons and some of these offer significant savings – a whole lot more than your typical “30 cents off” coupon. But the coupons vary so much and are across so many of Amazon’s products it’s impossible to give you just one example of how much you could save. The best way to skim through all the Amazon coupons here

How do I get free credits on Amazon Prime Day?

You can actually stack several deals to earn free bonus money to spend during Prime Day.

$10 credit with Amazon Prime Day gift cards

Purchase $40 worth of select Amazon.com gift cards and you’ll get a $10 promotional credit. Be sure to buy one of the gift cards that qualifies for the promotion. You can find out more here.

Gift card with credit card approval

Not that I’m recommending it (because more credit cards = more trouble), but if you get approved for the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa, you’ll get an instant Amazon gift card for $100. Think about it though: if they can afford to give that much to everyone who gets approved, how much do they plan on earning from you? So proceed wisely – and don’t do it unless you were planning to get a new card anyway.

  1. Possible deal: In the past, you could get a $10 promotional code off your next qualifying $20 order by signing into the Amazon app for the first time. (Double-check this one, because it may be over. I can’t find the original copy on Amazon that promised this free $10 credit.)

Earn 10% Back in Rewards

Related to both of the deals above: During the Spend $10, Get $10 promotion, Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card and Amazon Prime Store Card holders with an eligible Prime membership will also earn 10% back in rewards on select small business purchases. Visit amazon.com/pcb to learn more.

My recommendation for getting these free credits for Amazon Prime Day is to buy something you were planning to buy anyway, and don’t get anything just because it’s on sale, because that’s not cheap! 🙂 However, you could really save some money if you’re sharp and shop carefully.

What you get with Amazon Prime

Besides Prime Day Deals, a subscription to Amazon Prime can save you money. We have a subscription primarily because we ditched cable TV and Prime gives us access to more shows and channels than other subscription services. We do have other streaming services, but if I had to choose one it would be Amazon Prime, because that also gives us some free e-books each month, some free streaming music, and of course the free 2-day shipping when we buy Prime-eligible products. There are other benefits too, like free online photo storage.

“Prime Day” deals at other stores

Amazon’s competitors have caught on to the fact that Prime Day brings out the shopper in many of us and so they offer huge deals at their stores as well. You will most likely see corresponding deals at Walmart, Best Buy, Target and others. At least thats what happened last year.
