Friends University’s will host a concert in conjunction with the first annual Single Reeds Day conference they’re hosting for Wichita-area high school students.
The free performance will take place on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Clarinetist, Deborah Marshall and saxophonist Sue McKenzie will be the guest artists for the concert.
Marshall lived in Munich for 22 years, and has recorded for broadcasting corporations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Russia. She now resides in Boulder, Colorado, and is an active performer in the Denver and Boulder area.
McKenzie resides in Scotland. She is the director of the Scottish Saxophone Academy and the Scottish Saxophone Ensemble.
Marshall and McKenzie will be teaching master classes for the conference as well as performing in the concert.
Dr. James Knight will be accompanying both performers.
