The original Pizza Hut restaurant started by brothers Dan and Frank Carney is located in Wichita, Kansas on the campus of Wichita State University.
The building is now a museum open to the public!
Pizza Hut is now one of the biggest pizza chains in the world, but its humble beginnings were right here in our town. The museum houses artifacts from Pizza Hut’s earliest beginnings, including a recreation of the napkin on which Dan Carney wrote the recipe for Pizza Huts original sauce.
Admission to the museum is FREE.
When school is in session, it is open Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. Summer hours are noon to 4 p.m. The museum is closed on weekends.
You can find the museum behind WSU’s Marcus Welcome Center just south of 21st Street, west of Oliver. You can park in the Marcus Welcome Center parking lot or near Eck Stadium.
While you’re there, check out the Ulrich Museum of Art, and the outdoor sculpture walk.
