Riverside Castle (aka Campbell Castle, aka Crumm Castle) is located at 1155 N. River Blvd. and is one of Wichita’s most recognizable homes. It was built in or around 1888 by Colonel Burton Harvey Campbell and based on the design of an actual Scottish castle. For years it operated as a B&B here in Wichita.
In the past few years, the castle has been the venue for a few special events, including a Christmas tour for the whole family, a ladies’ day out shopping event, and a “Downton Abbey” style formal tea. It’s also a popular stop on a Wichita holiday lights tour.
p.s. The Riverside castle is for sale! Know anyone in the market for a cool old Scottish castle?
Hello Emily.
I guess I’m a Wichita transplant–moved to Tucson, AZ 30 years ago. I’ve always been under the impression that this was an actual castle that had been transported from Scotland. Guess I learned something new today.
