The 68th annual Wichita Gem & Mineral Show will showcase Unbelievable Rocks, Minerals, and Fossils again this year!
The show is April 22, 23, 24, 2022 at the Cessna Activity Center, 2744 George Washington Blvd. in Wichita.
The show’s sponsors, the Wichita Gem and Mineral Society, have organized a family event with gem and mineral specimens from throughout the world.
Displays and vendors will feature colorful gem stones, fossils, agates, crystals, meteorites, beads, jewelry and lapidary materials. Gemologists will be at the show to identify gem stones.
This is a very kid-friendly event – kids will enjoy digging through the junior rockpile, seeing demos and exhibits, spinning a gem wheel, and sorting through rock and fossil specimens they get in their grab bags.
But it’s not just for kids! Adults will enjoy it just as much.
Gem show hours are:
Friday April 22, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday April 23, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Sunday April 24 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday is usually Education Day with a special mineral identification program for school groups.
Admission for students is FREE with accompanying adults on Friday through 5pm.
Every day of the event they’ll have demonstrations, shopping, kid fun, and more! This is a great, inexpensive event for the whole family.
Admission is only $5 for adults, $1 for kids ages 13-17, and kids under 12 are FREE with a paid adult admission.
For more info on this show, check out their Facebook event.
It’s already inexpensive, but you can get in even cheaper with a coupon. The coupons for the Gem and Mineral Show can be found online here.
If you haven’t been to the gem and mineral show, put it on your list of things to do. It’s really interesting and you or your kids might end up with a new hobby of treasure-hunting for rocks when you’re outside!
Nearby: Kansas Aviation Museum, and on Friday they have Little Aviators for kids 5 and younger from 10 a.m. to noon. It is free for all children 12 and under and one adult.
No biggie but the times are incorrect – it opens at 10. Lol we got here about 9:30…but the silver lining is the kids get to play on the adjacent playground for half an hour. 🙂
Oh gosh, I’m so sorry! I’ll correct that right away. Glad your kids got to have fun at the playground though! Thanks so much for letting me know!
