Each first Friday of the month, Great Plains Nature Center welcomes people to a relaxed environment for learning something new and getting outdoors with other nature (and book) enthusiasts. January through May and October through December, the group walks in the afternoons from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. while from June through September, the group enjoys cooler temperatures with a morning walk from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m..
Purchase the books at the Owl’s Nest Gift Shop and receive a 10% discount. Friends of the GPNC members get a 20% discount on book club books. Purchases are not required to participate in this FREE event.

July 8 at 11 a.m. — Nature’s Silent Message, by Scott Stillman
August 5 at 11 a.m. — Sod and Stubble, by John Ise
September 2 at 11 a.m. — Bicycling with Butterflies, by Sara Dykman
October 7 at 2 p.m. — The Triumph of Seeds, by Thor Hanson
November 4 at 2 p.m. — My Side of the Mountain, by Jean Craighead George
December 2 at 2 p.m. — Owls of the Eastern Ice, by Jonathan Slaght
As always, its a great idea to double-check that the event is still happening before you go. The Walking Book Club at Great Plains Nature Center plans to meet monthly to chat about books and (weather permitting) go for a walk. June through September, the walks will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. January through May and October through December, the walks will begin at 2 p.m. and end at 4 p.m..
