Bring Holiday Joy to Deployed Kansas Troops
Presents in a Package – Offering Opportunity to Help
An estimated 450,000 men and women serve overseas, sadly more than 50 percent never get a care package. NCRI – National Catastrophe Restoration, Inc. and Volunteer Kansas would like your help in changing that by inviting you to participate in their upcoming Presents in a Package Event.
There are three ways to get involved:
- Collect items to be packaged and sent to our service men and women, and drop them off during business hours at NCRI – National Catastrophe Restoration, Inc., 8447 E. 35th N. in Wichita by November 8th. (A full list of items accepted is available at www.ncricat.com or www.volunteerkansas.org.)
- Donate to the postage fund. It costs $18.45 to ship each care package. Online donations can be made at facebook.com/volunteerkansas/ or by making checks payable to Volunteer Kansas and mailing to:
PO Box 781598
Wichita, KS 67278
- 3. Signing up at volunteerkansas.org for one of two volunteer shifts on November 8, 2019 (10 a.m. to noon or 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.) at NCRI – National Catastrophe Restoration, Inc., 8447 E. 35th St. N., Wichita. The day will be spent sorting and putting together the care packages.
“Anyone who has a deployed loved one from Kansas, whom they would like to receive a care package during the holidays, should email the service person’s name and mailing address to email@example.com by November 4, 2019,” said Nola Brown, executive director of Volunteer Kansas and event co-organizer.
There will be food trucks and prize giveaways onsite the day of the packing event. Event organizers hope to pack and ship 400 care packages.
“The goal of Presents in a Package is to reach as many Kansas troops overseas as possible, letting them know we support them and are thinking of them back home while
they serve their country, away from their homes and families for the holidays,” said NCRI – National Catastrophe Restoration, Inc. marketing manager and event co-organizer Katy Timken.
