Looking for a fantastic holiday light display to drive through? You’ll love this Wichita classic. The Lights at Ability Point formerly known as The Arc’s Lights on St. Paul and now known as Lights at Ability Point.
The 70-year-old agency serving individuals living with an intellectual and developmental disability changed is name to Ability Point in 2021.
Experience the holiday wonderland from the warmth of your car as you drive through more than 22 miles of extension cords the connect the lights on display built completely by volunteers. As you enter, you’ll see a sign telling you to tune your radio to a certain station so you can enjoy the festive holiday music as you drive through the lights.
There’s something for all ages to enjoy as you discover new displays and long-time favorites like the one-of-a-kind Tunnel of Lights, singing light bulbs, and more
Volunteers put in thousands of hours setting up and working this annual drive-through holiday light display. It is Ability Point’s signature fundraising event that helps provide life-changing programs for youth and adults with developmental disabilities. 100% of all the proceeds from admission and donations directly helps their mission.
What’s New this Year? A moving Ferris Wheel, roller coaster and helicopter as well as favorites like a state-of-the-art tunnel.
This tradition has grown in popularity each year attracting more than 100,000 visitors.
I got to ask David with Ability Point what sets their light display apart from others and here is his response: “All displays are completely built by volunteers. 100% of your $10 admission and donations directly provide year-round unique educational and social opportunities for individuals, of all ages living with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families that promote self-advocacy, physical and mental health, inclusion, respite and socialization.” – David
