The Wichita Art Museum will host The Meadowlark Project, an Overland Park-based vocal ensemble, on February 8, 2019. Admission is free!
The musical performance goes hand-in-hand with the Museum’s current Kansas Land photography exhibit.
In conjunction with the “Kansas Land” exhibition, an Overland Park-based vocal ensemble, The Meadowlark Project, presents a recital of new music exploring ideas of nature and climate and their impact on the human experience in the American Midwest. This recital is generously sponsored in part by Reach Out Kansas, Inc.
Their performance will include art songs by Kansas composers Ben Justis, Bonnie McLarty, and Frank Nawrot with text by Kansas poets Megan Kaminski, Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg, Elizabeth Schultz, and Wyatt Townley, and piano accompaniment by Alejandro Avila. The Meadowlark Project (tenors Neal Long and Brian Sussman, mezzo-soprano Mackenzie Phillips, and soprano Natalie Young) performs and facilitates the creation of contemporary vocal works.
