The most popular coupon ever is back. Sedgwick County has released its bulky waste coupon (aka dump coupon, lol) for 2022.
Sedgwick County is once again offering residents a coupon for FREE disposal of bulky waste up to 1,000 pounds. (Loads exceeding this limit are accepted, but will be subject to fees.) You have to haul it, but with the coupon there will be no charge for disposing of it.
This year, be sure to double- and triple-check the safety guidelines given on the flyer so that you have the proper PPE for dropping off at the dump.
Only residents of Sedgwick County are eligible for the coupons and must be prepared to haul the trash to the dump specified.
The items that are accepted may change from year to year, so do double-check your coupon when you get it. The coupon does not include tires, mattresses and box springs, appliances with freon, or hazardous materials. (Check out the Household Hazardous Waste Facility for those.)
Before you toss something, check to see if it can be recycled using the recycling guide at www.sedgwickcounty.org.
Businesses are not eligible to use the bulky waste coupon.
When you receive the coupon in the mail, it will tell you which dumps will accept the bulky waste coupon. It looks like there is ONE location accepting the trash coupon this year:
- Waste Connections Transfer Station, 4300 W. 37th St. N., 941-4320
An online request form will be available at https://ssc.sedgwickcounty.org/couponrequest/ Residents must be prepared to present their name and address online or over the phone.
Last year the coupons were mailed within one week of request. Tell your husband, kids, and anyone else who might have the mail key to check for your coupon! You sure don’t want it to accidentally be thrown out. (Almost happened at my house last year.)
We are not sure when your bulky waste coupon will expire. It is not listed on the website.

Tip: For a major cleanup project, you need the right trash bags like these contractor bags at Amazon. Contractor bags don’t rip as easily when you load them with large, irregular, or sharp objects.
