The City of Wichita has a fun and FREE community event planned for Sunday afternoon, May 1, 2022 in the North Market neighborhood.
It’s going to be fun! It’s open to everyone and will include a full day of fun physical activities, music, and food.
You may remember the Open Streets ICT event that happens along Douglas Street in the fall. That’s still planned for this September.
Open Streets NoMar is an additional community-building event for the north end of town.
Open Streets ICT NoMar is designed to elevate the quality of life and health of the Greater Wichita community, and particularly the North part of the city.
“Open Streets ICT provides more than just opportunities for physical exercise – it is an exercise in building community, cultural identity, and social engagement. By temporarily removing the danger of motor vehicles, Open Streets ICT provides a novel type of public space that helps people make social connections and lets them view the city through a new lens.” ~ Wichita Park and Recreation
The City will close one mile of 21st Street to traffic from NoMar Market at Broadway to Woodland Park. The street will then be open for biking, walking, running, live music and dancing, entertainment, food, art, yoga and more.
All along the one mile stretch there will be activity hubs, participating businesses, food and street vendors.
Date: May 1, 2022
Time: noon to 4 p.m.
Location: NoMar International Market, at 21st Street North and N. Market Street, Wichita, KS 67219
