MakeICT is a communal makerspace that’s a great deal for anyone who needs space and equipment to build, engrave, weld, sew, and just otherwise make things. They have tools and equipment that would be really expensive to buy yourself – and then you would have to have a workspace in order to use them. A membership is only $25 and gets you access to MakeICT 24/7/365.
One way they give people an opportunity to see the space and decide on whether a membership would be a good fit is with their Maker Mondays event.
Another way is with an annual open house and art auction event.
This Final Friday, MakeICT will be open to anyone to stop by, see the facility, and/or buy and bid on items made by local “makers.”
Admission to the Annual Art Auction and Open House is FREE and open to everyone, including well-supervised children. (There’s a lot of equipment and you wouldn’t want your kids to get too rambunctious.)
Here’s a description of the event from the organizers:
MakeICT Annual Art Auction and Open House -Final Friday Event
Join the artists, craftsmen and builders of MakeICT at the Gallery on Final Friday for a night to remember! September 28, 2018 there will be an open house at MakeICT, 1500 E Douglas, with a silent auction that starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:30. This will be a collection of art that combines the skill and creativity of the vibrant local maker community. There will also be items for direct sale. Come and tour this unique community space that everyone has been talking about!
The pieces in this collection are an intersection of art, technology, science, and culture that the members of MakeICT have donated. Funds raised will be used to purchase equipment to enhance our local community makerspace.
Definitely check them out! This place is a dream come true for artists, crafters, inventors, woodworkers, and anyone who has a vision of something they’d like to make, but not the tools, equipment, or space to make it in.
