The Kindness Rocks movement has come to Wichita. You can be a part of it by participating in this event at MakeICT on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. It looks like it will be fun, and there’s no better way to spend time than in service to others. Here’s a little bit about Kindness Rocks from its founder:
It has become a grass roots kindness movement. If one person finds a rock with a message that speaks to them during a difficult time, OUR efforts have made a difference! Our goal is to encourage others to find cool creative ways to reach out and brighten someones day unexpectedly whether it be through kindness rocks, love notes, random acts of generosity…the skies the limit!
One message at just the right moment can change your entire day…outlook…life!
One of my favorite quotes is, “Your legacy is every life you have touched!” which pretty much sums it all up. Giving from your heart in service of others while expecting nothing in return is what this project is all about and our united strength in times of uncertainty can be found through these simple acts of kindness.
And here’s information about the event from the local Wichita group’s Facebook event page:
ICT Area ROCKS! is spreading kindness and positive messages to everyone in Wichita! Come join us at MakeICT for a very special night for making Kindness Rocks to place around Wichita and surrounding areas. Kindness Rocks are painted with inspirational messages or images to help uplift whoever finds them. They don’t take long to make so show up whenever you’d like, sit and enjoy the community while you paint.
We will have some supplies but it would help if you’d bring something to contribute, like an art night potluck! Pick just about anything, the basic ingredients are:
1) Rocks, between 2-3″, washed and well dried
2) Acrylic paint
3) Spray paint
4) Clear gloss spray sealer
MakeICT is kid-friendly and this event is open for all ages. Drop in any time between 6 and 9pm. It’s free and open to the public. Bring friends!
If you find a Kindness Rock, pick it up! Keep it if the message holds importance for you, or move it somewhere so it can be seen by someone else. You can also take a photo and share it to spread kindness to those who may not be able to get out and find rocks.
Some guidelines for kindness rocks:
1) Hide rocks anywhere you think they might be found. You never know who you’re going to help!
2) Always ask businesses for permission before hiding rocks inside
3) Don’t hide rocks where they can fall and hurt someone
4) Don’t hide rocks in grass that gets mowed, as they can damage mowers
5) Keep your art family friendly
6) No trespassing to hide rocks
This event was inspired by the Kindness Rocks Project, which was created to spread inspiration and motivation for unsuspecting recipients through random inspirational rocks dropped along the way. If one person finds a rock with a message that speaks to them during a difficult time, OUR efforts have made a difference! Our goal is to encourage others to find cool creative ways to reach out and brighten someones day unexpectedly whether it be through kindness rocks, notes, random acts of generosity…the skies the limit!
